Got new 28 ga shorty today for NY season friday.
« on: September 29, 2010, 12:53:38 PM »
Picked up a nib 28ga 22" this morning. Made in NY pardner CAC #. Wasn,t
packed the best, lock still rattleing around the box but no damage. Finish on
receiver was dull grey/black almost like parkerizing, barrel good but typical
blueing,fit good & tight.Youth stock& forend(short) decent finish. Cleaned
it up and shot a couple Hi Brass 6's out of it,no sticks, good ejection. Put a set
of extra CR carbine stocks on it, nice feel & balance. LOP about the same as with the
original stocks 13 1/2-13 3/4. Can't wait to get out and hunt with it and its big sis
the TDC Turkey gun on friday when the season opens up at camp. I hunt about
60 mi from Spikehorn so he knows how I feel.  Fred       My grandson will probably run off with this one ;D

I would love to have a 28. it seems like that would be better than a 20 for light carry and upland game.
the reason I don't have one is because I have never seen a box of shells around here.
go ahead and give it to the grandboy, you'll get great pleasure.

Fred good looking 28ga! and good luck tomorrow. I have to work tomorrow and Saturday is my birthday and the wife has plans for me all day, but going to try and get out Sunday and bust a flock. My TDC 20ga got the job done in the spring so it will be with me this time.

Well guys, have been back for a couple days, Mother Nature raised her head and sent us packing
no shots at turkeys but did see a couple flocks. Grandson as expected grabbed the 28 and proceeded
to get 7 squirrels, 3 bunnies and his first "thunder chicken" grouse in the 2 days we could hunt while
his father and I went wanting for turkey. At least somebody got something for the pot! I did run a few
rounds thru the 28 and found it much superior to a 410 in performance. Not ready to get rid of them yet
(got 3 of them) but would reccommend the 28 for younguns.  Fred  Bought this one from Buds.
