There are also degrees in which a particular sin has reprocussions. For instance adultry is a sexual sin, that affects family, children, parents, spouses, brothers and sisters. Many people are hurt by it. Whereas premarital sex might not have the reprocussions as adultry, it can lead to mistrust in marriage. Free sex, (Biblical whoremongering), leads to disease and mistrust and adultry in marriage. Homosexuality spreads disease as well as confusion for children. Sin is sin, just different degrees of consequences. Homosexuality is the worse sexual sin, followed by adultry.

Anger can be a sin, if it leads to assult or murder. Gluttony is a sin which leads to being overweight with the associated illnesses.

Coveting what others have is a sin which can lead to stealing, or using the government to steal to spread the wealth around to those who don't work. The poor can be bigger sinners with money than the rich, if it leads to stealing, or squandering money on frivilous things. The rich may donate 20% or 50% of their money to charity. You don't know what they do, while the poor may spend it on lotto tickets, beer, spinners, fuzzy dice and junk.

Swampthing, true, but different sins have different consequences in this life. Just a little white lie will keep you out of heaven without the blood of Jesus. What I was showing, was that some sins are worse than others and have consequences worse than others. Hitting someone in anger is not the same as killing someone in anger. Consequences are far greater for killing. That is why Christians are against abortion and homosexuality, because the consequences of continuing to allow it are going to be bad for America.

The Bible I read says sing is sin, period. BTW, I read the KJV. The Holy Scriptures do not differentiate degrees of sin, however I will allow you to prevent Biblical evidence to the contrary if you find it. I agree with completely that there is no salvation without being born again in Christ. Christ says that no one comes to the Father but through Him. However, this thread is about simple sin. The wages of sin is death, whether it be stealing an apple b/c you are hungry, committing adultery with a friend's wife, or committing an act of murder. All sins result in eternal damnation, period.

I agree with the eternal damnation without Christ. However, I am just pointing out how sins have consequences in the here and now. Different sins have different consequences. Some such as gluttony usually affect only yourself unless others are dependent on you. Adultry affects two whole families or more. Hitting someone you might get an assalt charge, but killing someone gets capital punishment. We are to be the salt of the earth to make it palatable. We have to pick our fights and try to keep sin in check, like abortion and homosexuality which are more dangerous than sins with lessor consequences.

SWAMPTHING. Not sure you understand what DIXIE DUDE is saying. I believe we all agree that in Gods eyes sin is sin. BUT, here on earth there are consequences to sin, or breaking the law, and there are different punishments for different crimes, or sins, as long as we live on this earth. I was a little slow to understand what he is saying. You and I agree that sin is sin, period. No shades or degrees. I did say I was granting the "boon of his application", fancy way of conceding the point. I am a little slow to learn sometimes, and he does agree with me, but we were talking on two different levels. I have been, and still am, speaking from a strictly theological standpoint.

Powderman, thanks, from a theological perspective, yes any and all sin from the least to the greatest will keep you out of heaven without Christ. I was trying to make the point of how sin works in the here and now and how some affect peoples lives more than others. Obama's works show what kind of fruit he is producing. We are not supposed to judge, but we can be fruit inspectors. "By their fruits, you shall know them". So, that being said, Obama doesn't show any true Christian background....homosexuality, abortion, forcing people to take health care even if they don't want it, Ramadan celebrations, Friday Muslim prayers in the White House, etc. As a side note, Christians in Jerusalem tried socialism, they almost starved to death. Paul had to take up offerings in Greece to help them. Jamestown colony tried socialism the first year, and almost starved to death, went back to private ownership of property, then began to prosper.

Another is the health care bill will not raise your premiums. Mine and others have gone up significantly last year. Hmmm
He told a group of Hispanics that those who oppose him are his enemies. Hmmm
He said if Republicans win last Tuesday there would be blood in the streets. Hmmm Haven't seen that yet.
He said he was a Christian? Doesn't act like it. Hasn't been to church since he has been in office, but allows Muslim prayer group at white house every Friday. Hmmm.

Anyone else want to chime in and tell more.

a lie is a lie . we do not judge God does. We only see the effect for what it is. I would guess the part about transparnt govt. and debate on Cspan is looking much like a lie at this point . Do you see it that way ? or not ?

He lied about the near trillion dollar stimulus plan and what it was and was for. He lied about unemployment not exceeding 8%. He lied about the health care bill. He lied about controlling spending. He lied about being a uniter instead he is a severe partisan.

Basically, he is just a big liar. And when you lie to 300 million people and it directly effects their lives, that a big a pretty big deal.

Unemployment figures can only be speculative until the actual statistics come out. No one can guarantee unemployment will be x percent in 12 months. Refresh my memory, what are stimulus "lies"?

He said the healthcare bill would not cover abortion and it does. He said it will lower the cost of healthcare and it won't (Just ask any business) . He said illegal aliens won't be covered and they are.

Of course the president cannot nor can anyone predict future unemployment. That’s why he is a liar. He told the American people that it would not exceed 8% if his stimulus bill was passed.The lie is he told the American 8% but never premised that it was "speculative". He said the money was going for "shovel ready" projects. This is a lie. The money went for pork projects and government union worker pension plan bail outs, raises for public sector jobs and pay back pork projects for those that supported his bid for the White House.

He is nothing more than a political scum bag partisan liar for the left wing. He has no interest in being the president of all or most of the legal citizens in this country. He abused his super majority status and now he has paid the price.
