CVA Scout 35 Whelen
« on: October 01, 2010, 06:29:25 AM »
Anyone have one, or has shot one?  They got some in at the local gun shop, was wondering if anyone had any input on them.  Thanks.

Looks kinda neat & economical, especially if you don't have a CVA Apex, OE or Encore, but I will likely buy a barrel instead.

I handled one in 7mm-08 about a month ago.  Nice balance and weight.  Quality is okay, but not up to what TC is.  Thought seriously about one in 35 Whelen until I found a #1 in that cartridge.

Somehow, the terms "Scout" and "35 Whelen" don't go together in my mind.

Has anyone been having problems with the new cva apex in 35 whelen?
I talked with Ken at CVA today and he said that they were only having about a 1 % misfire rate with there testing...
Misfiring seems to be the big problem..
Just got mine today cant' wait to see how it does....

I don't have a 35 whelen but I have a new Scout in 44 magnum. It is a nice gun and it shoots really well. CVA has really got their stuff together with the Scout. It's a better quality gun than some of the other singles on the market and the price is right too. Mine was $279.

I'll second what Spanky said.  Although I haven't shot mine, yet.  The fit and finish on my Scout 44 mag is very nice.  It fits me perfect.  I put a 4x leupold on it.  Here is a pic.
