LBT Blue storage life
« on: October 02, 2010, 05:52:40 PM »
When I received my order of LBT Blue I wrapped each stick in cling wrap, then put all in a zip bag, then put them in a plastic coffee container with snap on lid. They stay in a cool basement that might freeze a few days if it gets 20 below for a spell.

Is there a storage life for your lubes to maintain premium performance?

Thanks

The longest I've had any stored is 30 years, with NO caution about nice storage conditions, and there was no breakdown or change in performance.  With the babying you are giving your's, I believe it's good for at least 100 years!

Mine went through temps of over 120 deg F and down to 20 below Zero, with no change of any kind that I could detect.

If we could just get it to run for office.  Think of the possibilities...

About any plastic used to wrap your lube will break down and get hard to remove in time.   Whenever you get a fresh stick out of the stash, pay attention to how your plastic wrap is holding up and rewrape the remaining sticks when it seems wise.  Perhaps the best kind of plastic would be black visqueen as is used by builders.  Get one of the thinner offerings.  It seems to last forever out in the weather.  Wide mouth mason jars as are used for canning food would be excellent storage containers.  Stand them in the jar but don't try to jamb them in tight or they will all come out as one unit.
