Back when I was growing up, we had blue laws for EVERYONE except, one drug store (they all rotated Sunday's), and only a few gas stations. Law allowed for pharmacy's, gasoline, hotels-motels, and restaurants, in case there were travelers who needed a place to stay, eat, or gas up. Most southern states were this way. Allowed for the day of rest and most people back in the 50's attended church. Then the big chain stores started putting pharmacy's in their stores so they could stay open. Gas stations began selling milk and bread and such. Then the mall started opening on Sunday afternoons in the 90's. Then everything opened except the mom and pop stores. Life was simpler, crime was lower, STD's were almost eliminated, you could hunt by getting verbal permission from the landowner. Boys under 18 hunted without an adult. People were nicer.
