357 Mag Rebarrel Report
« on: October 03, 2010, 02:41:17 PM »

Many paused to help in the original barrel effort linked above.  After Remington returned the rifle, it was placed in the safe awaiting its turn following bush hog, disc, seed, cover, you know - food plotting.  With that effort nearing completion, and my annual hunting trek to SC swiftly approaching (within 10-days), the new barrel went to the range yesterday and it has GOT GAME!

I took the forearm off and shot Hornady LEVERevolution 140 Grain Flex Tip eXpanding factory ammo to a tight 0.825" three hole 100 yard group.  I was well pleased.  See?  That Tasco Scope is OK - for now.

After warming up the barrel I went head to head with 180 gr and 190 gr cast bullets and increasing powder charge.  Similar results were obtained with the 180 gr bullets at several charge weights.

I put the forearm back on and shot again finding only a slight down and left change in point of aim.  A little forearm "corrective action" should put that right.

She's a SHOOTER now!
