Spanish '93
« on: October 05, 2010, 11:00:27 AM »
I just picked up another 7mm mauser its a Spanish '93 dated 1914 Oviedo mauser. The stock was the worst wood i have ever seen on a surplus rifle.  But its being redone as we speak.  The bore looks ok and it should be a shooter when its finished.  The 7's just keep on comming....                                 czy

I found somemore but i'm waiting for payday.

A half-assed sporterized '93 7x57 was the first centerfire rifle I ever owned. I asked for a Winchester M70 Featherweight .30-06 and that's what showed up that CHRISTmas.

I been there too.  I was shooting matches with a borrowed 22cal peep site target rifle and i asked for my own and a bolt action 22 hunting rifle showed up instead.  I was dead in the water with that one.

Did you poke any meat with your 7mm?  Was it accurate?

Nope never killed anything with it. I guess it was as accurate as my ability to shoot with the military irons on a shortened barrel allowed.

Once the barrel is shortened we need to adjust the front sight again so its on at 100yds. For some reason today these older sporters are bringing in bigger $$ today if they look good.

I got her finished and she is as purdy as a new born babe when she turns 18.  Shes a real looker now. I proved we can make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Pics to follow soon.

The stock had no smooth spots on it, it looks like they took a 1/2" wide hand plane and made passes on it.  The width was also weird too.  I have no clue as to what they were thinking.  She is spot on now looks wise...
