junior. No such critter as a protestant taliban, you can be one, or the other, but not both. 2 different Bibles. Protestants, Gods word, the real Bible. The taliban, koran, false teachings from a false DEAD prophet. Pretty simple actually. POWDERMAN.
You are missing what he said. He wasn't actually talking about a literal "protestant taliban" but about the Christian theocracy movement that seems to be gaining some steam in America today. An intolerant imposition of ones strict (some would say distorted) Christan views and an attempt to legislate them into law. At least that's what I take it to mean.
Not at all missing the point..
Starting in the 1960s the anti-Christian, anti-decency crowd started in their ascendancy, trampling over the majority rights and beliefs. These characters sprung from a completely spoiled, self-centered and self-indulgent portion of the young people...often raised by affluent, but decadent and hypocritical parents.The rise of this sex-drugs-rock & roll culture has thriven in the absence of any moral compass. Mature minds could then..and still now, clearly see the price of living in a culture that has abandoned any real values; and that price is very dear. It is to this lifestyle philosophy which we owe many of the current problems which are eating into and corroding the very civilization in which we live.
To those who have adopted this way of living we owe much...to name just a few;
1) Drug addictions
2) A soaring illegitimacy rate.
3). The AIDS epedemic..AIDS was originally called GRIDS (gay related immune deficiency syndrome) until the PC police forced a change in the name.
4) The cost and struggles with drug addiction and the illegal drug trafficking and all related crimes.
5) Child abuse related to illegal drug addiction and trafficking.
6) The abuse and occasional killing of children, their lives having been made of little value to some by widespread and encouraged abortions.
7) People in the street with a language of filth and garbage flowing from their lips.
We have had a danger to the innocent from drunken drivers since automobiles were invented and many do not appreciate it; now part of the R & R gang want to legalize another mind bending drug.
You will note that none of the above instances promote a cleaner, more congenial and safer society..so who arew the intolerant.
When one speaks of tolerance, he should remember that tolerance is a two-eged sword. We would like people in their general course of public conduct to maintain a decorum that is acceptable to most everybody. A peaceable atmosphere would be simpler to maintain if the above faults were not present in our dominant culture. Obviously, the intolerant crowd expect that we should be happy to 'tolerate' those abberent behaviors.
The term "Protestant Taliban" is a straw man, a red herring and a statement disclosing complete ignorance of Christians and Christianity.
We would have no laws of forced conversion; since such a thing is completely invalid.
As far as forcing others to live by laws they have organized and passed, again the intolerants are on the R & R side. They have pushed for special rights for the perverted, the killing of little boys & girls, the legalization of illicit drugs, the coarsening of the culture and the adoption of the grossly ridiculous "hate crime" legislation. Plus they are in the forefront of "political correctness', otherwise known as 'liberal censorship'.
As Dixie Dude said, except for a couple major flaws (which were rapidly being corrected), we were a much more polite, kinder and more wholesome society before the "sex, drugs and rock & roll" misfits gained influence. Some of that crowd gained wisdom, grew up and became worthwhile..some are still wallowing in their self-indulgence ...and passing it on..
