safety question!!! CVA eclipse
« on: October 07, 2010, 05:22:35 PM »
Ok I accuired a 2001 cva eclipse hunter for what i thought was a great price. I have about zero ML expierience so I've been googling everything related i could think of, I'm sure you know i found a million
horror stories about cva's. GBO has never steered me wrong yet so, is this thing safe or what?
I have no intentions of shooting magnum loads in it, from what i read 70-90grs (volume) should do anything
I want, seems to be accuracy range in alot of ML. Will probably only shoot sabots 240-300gr because i shoot
those in the 44 and have a couple hundred pounds of them around here.
Anyone with this model? Should i shoot it? Any replys thanks in advance.

yes it is safe. Those stories youve been reading are about recalled rifles that had problems in 1995 and 1996. The writer turns this stuff around and uses it as a scare tactic. He even used to shoot and review CVA's until he got into the Savage pocket book.

Thanks, I was pretty sure that was the case, just like all the other guns that blow up.
I know EVERY manufacturer has had one blown up, IMHO 99.9% of those are operator error.

I never really been too excited about ML since we have to use them in rifle season, no special season >:(
but since I got this one I'm honestly excited to try it out, shot a few before, but never got to "play"
to see what they were all about. Can't wait to find THE load, bullet, powder. I think thats my favorite
part of any new rifle, pistol, shotgun, bow.....

Thanks again

Thanks for the replies finally got out and shot it a few times
70gr 777, 240gr swc tc green sabot, one big hole at 50yds. ;D
Gotta try some more loads, but I'll be happy with that, it should be
over 1500fps plenty of punch for deer.
Never really thought I'd get into ML but I gotta say it's a blast!
