  • I would rather be shooting!!
Many of you may know I traded my Remington 22-250 for a Remington 700 VLS Thumbhole in the 308 Win. caliber. I was at the range today working up some loads for the rifle when this Groundhog ran across the range. I have taken 2 or 3 other Groundhogs at this range this summer but this one has eluded me all summer. He always runs across at full speed and never stops until he is at the other side into the brush and out of sight. Well he ran acroos the range again today and I happened to have a round chambered at the time. He stopped just for a moment about 10 feet from the brush line. Thats all it took. ;D This make number 21 for the season. I did not figure I would get him this year due to cold weather starting to set in and he would have been going to sleep for the winter here in a couple more weeks. There have been a few Groundhogs in the past that for one reason or another I have not been able to get. Not this time though. ;D Well here are the pictures of him and my new to me rig. Thanks and take care Dale

Nice rifle Dale. You have come a long way from the .243 to the .22-250 and now the .308 along with spending a lot of time at the range and the loading bench.

The Coyotes will be next when those hogs go underground and that 700 VLS will want one. You been watchin for tracks n scat?
