.300 WSM
« on: December 07, 2003, 04:58:47 PM »
I have a Win .300 WSM,using 180 gr. power points.I like it very much.Shoots very well a still targets at 100+ yrds.Only hunt southern whitetails with it.Maybe overkill...don't know...havn't  seen a deer to try it on.I did see a turk...but I let him walk  .Btw,I've seen 9 turks, maybe I should take my 12 ga. next deer hunting trip and leave rifle at home.On the .300,it's Mod 70 "Super Shadow".Weight a little under 7 lbs. w/scope.I think Winchester may have "missed the boat" here;cuz it sure kicks like h--l.Maybe I should drill end of stack out and add some lead shot to make it heavier.      Rick                                                                                                      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I don't aim at anything I don't intead to shoot & I don't shoot anything I don't intead to kill"

ihuntbucks,

I agree with you on the Win. M70 Super Shadow being too light.  You might get a hold of C&H Research about installing a mercury recoil reducer in your Shadow.  Go to http://www.98.net/chr/ for more information.  Not only will you add a little weight to your rifle you will also reduce the recoil.  Lawdog

ihuntbucks,

No trouble.  One note, I use C&H recoil reducers in all of my firles from .340 Wetherby up to my .450 Rigby.  Reason is THEY WORK.  Let us know how things work out for you rifle.  Lawdog
