R92 Barrek Length?
« on: October 08, 2010, 06:39:37 PM »
I am looking at a Rossi R92 Round barrel 38/357. Can't decide what barrel length to get  16", or 20"

Are you going to use this as a hunting firearm, a plinker, or a cowboy shooter?

If you want to shoot cowboy matches with the firearm, you need to be able to put ten rounds in the magazine tube...!

If you're not interested in competetive shooting, the sixteen inch model makes for a fast handling hunting rifle.

I don't plan to shoot Cowboy Action. What barrel length would be the easiest to sell in the future?

The 20 in is probably better balanced for shooting off hand.  I have a 16" and it's very light on the muzzle.  The 20" barrels hang better and my 24" oct. barrel hangs the best of any of the 5 I own.  DP

For general range and hunting I prefer the 20''. It gives more room when attaching sling swivels to the magazine tube also.

I have the R92 in 38/357 with the 20" barrel and I feel it has the perfect balance.  It is so much fun to shoot and with 10 rounds of 357 in the tube and one up the snout there is little you need worry about when afield.

I prefer the 16" barrel of my .357 Rossi M92 - but have gone even further into compactness & light weight by shortening the magazine tube from full-length (8 rounds) to a button mag (even with forend tip).

I only use mine for hunting.....................

I've been thinking about doing this, can you post a picture of it please?
