Is everyone on Graybeard seeing the add for Joe Miller, or only us Alaskans seeing it?  I am a Joe Miller supporter, and am just curious.

I'm not from Alaska but I like Joe too. Murkowski is sure being a pill isn't  she!

Errybody should be seeing it. I saw it a bunch of times this morning. It's in the OSH spot they buy from me and resell the space to advertisers.

If this is a tight race she will probably help elect a Democrat.

The Democrate does not stand a chance to get elected, no one wants him not even the Dems.  I think it will be a tight race with the Dems voting for Lisa.  All the union leadrs have came out and endorced her, they are the ones that convinced her to run as a write-in.  It's going to be tight and again we will have to wait till the absentee and question ballots are counted.  I'm afraid the Anchorage area is going to support her, and she is courting the bush vote heavily.  The Interior belongs to Miller.

I understand that her name has to be spelled correctly for it to count in a write in. I hope the conservatives have a lot of hard nosed observers present when they count the vote. I really don't see how someone so obviously lacking in moral quality would have a chance to win, even amongst the folks from the City.

Joe Miller has attended lunch with a group of conservatives that I attend every Wednesday.  Each time he has attended the only available seat when he arrived was the one beside me.  We did a lot of talking before and after the luncheon, and during the meal while others were talking about other issues.  Joe is not against Social Security, he feels it should be scaled back to those that paid into it.  

The Dems are screaming about when his wife lost her job she applied for unemployment.  OK, she paid into unemployment, why should she not apply when she lost her job.  I really can not say more since that is all I know about it.  But with eight kids to feed and raise I can easily understand that.  They are also screaming about him getting a $5.00 Hunting and Fishing licsence for the low income people.  Again with eight kids to feed, I can see him qualifying at one time or another, and I am sure it helped at the time.

As for the claim he is for Big Oil, one of his biggest claims to fame as an attorney when he worked part time for the City Of Fairbanks was against the oil Giant Aleyaska, for a higher tax rate on the oil pipeline.  This greatly increased the revenues for the city.

He does want to do away with the US Dept of Education, says that is each states responsibility.  Not the job of the Federal Government, to tell them how to do it.  He and I discussed the US Fish and Wildlife Service; we both agree that is another government agency that does not need to exist.  Another Government agency sticking its nose into the way the states run their wildlife programs.  Joe also feels the National Park Service needs to be reined in.  They keep trying to annex more and more land, yet cannot maintain what they already have.

Having participated in the farm subsidy program Joe feels it is a very abusive program and extremely mismanaged.  He feels each state could do a better job, and the Federal Government needs to get out of it.  Joe feels the Federal Government should be limited to the items covered by the Constitution.

Powderman:  You are talking about Lisa I'm sure.  The Dems and the Union would rather see her elected than their candidate.  They feel she has a better chance than McAdams, since she will also get some wayward Republicans vote as well.  The unions are backing her since she backed them and voted how they wanted her to vote agreeing with Obama most times.

As for the Lisa Write-in.  The state has said they are not going to require that the name be spelled correctly if they can see that the intent was obvious to write in "Murkowski".  They won't accept "Lisa".

Joe Miller feels we need to do away with the welfare programs once we have put everybody to work.  I remember when jobs were availiable and some lazy people wanted to stay on welfare.  They did not want to go to work, when they could stay home and draw money to live on.  Bill Clinton of all people started cutting back on Welfare, and forced people back to work.  In 1993 I remember people coming to work for the custodial contractor where I worked.  They were furious, they had to work X hours a week or they recieved nothing that week from welfare.  Welfare gradually added more hours and then more hours till finally the welfare was cut off.  Those people were not happy about having to get a job.  So if the jobs are availiable cut off the welfare.  

Joe Miller wants to open up ALaska's potential for mining and drilling for oil and gas.  If we can do that Alaska will not need any Federal Funds, we can be totally self sustaining.  Instead of sending all that money to Saudi, send it to Alaska, we can use it.  You can use our Oil and other products.  We also have Copper, Lead, Gold, Silver, Platnium, Paladium, Manganeze, and a lot of other minerals hidden up here.  The Pebble Prospect has the potential to be the biggest Copper and Gold discovery in the world.  Now we just have to fight off the enviromentalist to get it opened.  Joe does back Pebble, and other mining prospects.
