Savage 12 barrel swap-bolt swap?
« on: October 10, 2010, 08:57:43 AM »
Hi Guys, I am at it again!  ::) I have a Savage 12v in .223 that it a great gun, it's just not very versatile.

What would in take to get it running if I went with a .260 or .308 barrel, in the area of bolt faces.  Is it routine to put a different bolt on a gun like that?  Thanks for your help in advance!  JeffG

Just change out the bolt head, they are cheap.  The magazine will need changed with the follower and the front baffel most likely will need changed if it has the little ear on it that limits the bolt travel.  Larry
A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.

No!  Not at all. It's a 1-9 twist and shoots like a dream. Like most Savages.... If I do it I will keep you in mind! ;D
