New Knife
« on: October 10, 2010, 09:59:24 AM »
My son and I went to a gun show recently and I ran across a pretty good buy. I bought myself a hand made knife and sheath. The knife blade is made from an old file. It should make a pretty good skinning knife.

Nice!  Interseting blade design also.  And a real fine sheath!  I have some old file blades that I wanted to use in trying my hand at knife making.  I wouldn't expect to make one that pretty though.   :-\  What is the handle made of?

Thanks guys. AtlLaw the handle is Cocobolo. The elderly gentleman that sold it to me took a liking to me because of my being a veteran and my interest in knife making. We talked knives for a good 20 minutes and in the process I convinced a couple guys to buy one of his knives. One at $70 and another at $150.  I kept returning to his table to look at this knife and finally decided I wanted it but I sure thought it would cost me a lot more than it did. I asked him how much and he just grinned then made a comment about being able to tell that I really liked it. Well, he sold me the knife and sheath for $15.00. I thought he was joking but he wouldn't take a penny more. I know I'll always treasure it and will eventualy pass it down to my son. Plus I made a new friend which to me is priceless. :) By the way, the overal length is 8 1/4".
