How to use MOA info
« on: October 10, 2010, 08:07:19 PM »
This may not be the right forum for this, if so kindly move it to where it should be.

I need help in figuring out what and how to interpret the MOA numbers given in some trajectory charts.  I do not have any scopes that have those outside knobs for adjusting the zero.

For example, suppose I see the following info
100           200         300
  X            -3.9"       - 14.5"
         MOA adjustment
                 +1.9          +4.6

Presuming I have a scope with a 1/4" per click @ 100 yards how many clicks? I would normally use 8 clicks to get to a 200 yard zero and 11 clicks for the 300 yard zero. Is this correct?
at 200 yards One(1) click will change the scope 1/2 inch. At 300 yards I presume it is 3/4 inch .

Are there scopes that use MOA  instead of inch per clicks on their adjustment knobs?

Looks like you got it right, except for the 300 should be 14.5 / .75 = 18 clicks

Sounds like you would enjoy playing with this calculator:

My experience has been that even some pretty good scopes are not exactly 1/4" or 1 MOA per click.
You just get what you get and you need to know what your scope does.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.
