Topper .410
« on: October 12, 2010, 12:12:48 PM »
I'm sure this has been asked sometime before so forgive me for redundancy if so.

Is a Topper .410 frame an SB-1 or SB-2 frame?  What barrels would it be capable of shooting from it?  .357 mag, 45 Colt, 22 hornet???

The reason I ask is because I came across a Topper .410 yesterday at a local store.  It was used but looked brand new.  The price:  $130.00.  Is that a good deal or is that typical?  I don't shoot .410 but I wonder if it would accept other barrels.  ???

Neither if it was made prior to 1987, SB1 if after unless the barrel was fitted to an SB2 frame, the current Topper comes on an SB1 frame.

I knew you'd have the info on this.  Thanks Tim!   ;D
So what do I need to do to find the year of manufacture.....check the serial number?
Do you think, in your opinion, that $130 is a good deal if it's a newer model?

Build year info is in the FAQs, if it's a modern Topper, depends on what model it is, some have removable chokes and cost a bit more.

Thanks again Tim!
I see that the .410's are pretty cheap!  Maybe that's not such a good deal if it's used.
Thanks again!

Cruise some more pawn shops - I see the 410's fairly often, usually marked around $120, but will sell for $75-90

I went back and looked.  The .410 I saw was new but I bet I could talk ten or so bucks off.  I was mostly interested to see if it was able to take other barrels.  Not really looking for the .410 barrel even though it could be a bit of fun to have.

Thanks guys!
