CZ 527 price?
« on: October 13, 2010, 04:55:47 PM »
I really want a cz 527 but looking on gun broker they are going for around $700! I guess I'm to cheap but maybe have to start looking for a used one! I would pay $350 for a 7.62x39 in good used shape! Are they that great of a model the 527! If I would get a new one, but if its not a shooter out of the box I would call it a waist of money! but not many bolt action rifles made in 7.62x39! So is $700 the going rate?

They are not exactly inexpensive.  The walnut sporters are around $600, the walnut varmint barrel add $100, for the HS Precision varmint your looking at close to $950. These are the 223s though.

I've got a H-S Precision Kevlar varmint 527.  I'd been wanting one for a couple of years, but never could find one in my price range.  I'd just about settled on the Rem700 vtr as they were all over the place.  I was doing some work out of my normal area and noticed a gunshop on my in that morning.  That afternoon when I finished I went by to see what kind of price he had a 700vtr.  He said he didn't have one and asked what requirement I had for the gun I was looking for.  I told him I wanted something that would be very accurate on my 400yard range.  He turned around to the rack all the way down at the end, and said 'Well I don't know if you've ever heard of 'em, but I got this gun made by CZ called a 527'   ;D
I couldn't believe he had one on the shelf, he said he could make me a 'real good deal' because it had been on his shelf for more than two years, and most people had never heard of it.  After about 20 minutes of haggling I was out the door for $600.  I don't know if he was pulling my leg, but he said that was the first time ever someone walked out of his shop that paid less for a gun than he did.  Anyway, out of my dozens and dozens or rifles, it is hands down the most accurate rifle I own.  I posted a pic a couple of topics down of a target I shot at 150 yds, it calculated out at .225 moa, that equates numerically to a one inch group at 450yds.  If you do go to the used market make sure it's a 1:9 barrel.  Somewhere around 2002 (I think) they changed over from the 1:12 which pretty much is going to limit you to the 55 or less grainers.  Good luck, hope you find one.

Bought my CZ 527 three years ago $515.  I debated between it and the Savage .223.   The CZ is a beauty to look at, and the Savage is just the opposite, but they really shoot from what I've read.
At first I was disappointed with the CZ because I'd been used to Remington rifles and the quality and smooth operation they used to have.  The CZ was rough to work the bolt out of the box.   it was loose too.  But after much reading and inquiry I found that is the Mauser Style.  The more I shot it, the better it functioned.  Something I'd never had to do before.   They shoot as good as the best.   What is best ?  Well, let me put it this way. I don't think you can go wrong with a CZ 527.

You wont regret it. I own one in .223 it is the nicest rifle I own in my opinion, excellent wood for a production rifle great balance extreamly acurate the set triger is nice also. I belive you get what you pay for and it sure seems like it with this rifle.

I bought a CZ 527 carbine (7.62x39) 2 weeks ago. Mounted a Vortex Viper 2-7x32 scope in Talley rings. I paid $630.00 at my local gunshop, had to order the 527, they had never heard of them. It will hold 1.5 m.o.a. out to 200yds. with wolf 122gr. hp. This is one fine rifle.  The set trigger is sweet, and i've had no malfunctions of any kind, no problem with primers either.  All my other center fire rifles just became safe queens ;)

You would be lucky to find a used one for much less than $500.  I have a 527 carbine in 7.62x39 that I picked up a few years ago, and am unsure of what I paid since it involved a trade.  The gun is light and accurate.  The only things that I don't like about it is the removable magazine since it makes it a little difficult to carry and the reverse safety.

As it takes more $ to buy a Euro the price is only going to go up on the little import rifles.
I paid about $600- 650 for my 527 M1 American but I also ordered a few of the 5 Round mags for it.
I think I saw a 527 Carbine in either 223 or 7.62X39 at Sheel's on Reno last month for about $500 on sale.
If I could only buy guns in NV.
The Javilina in my Picture was taken with it.  Great little rifle for it.
The other thing I see with the Cz rifles is very few make it to the used shelf. and do not stay there long if and when they do.
Found the same thing with he Ruger Red label Shotguns - People tend to buy them and keep them.

You can, FFL to FFL.  There will be, of course, extra transfer costs and shipping that could add $50 - $75.

And you can visit with your friend.  Sounds like the best plan to me!  Have a great time.

I especially like the Bavarian style stock on the CZ rifles.   In the Pic - TOP , is my BRNO 452 (1992) .22cal; BOTTOM is the 527 in .223cal.

as far as i can tell that satin style oil finish is the best in its price range, The luster on that beautifully walnut is amazing. Plus and this may or may not be a big thing to you, they make them in .222 =)
