Encore rifle trigger
« on: October 13, 2010, 06:21:02 PM »
What is a good way to a 2-3lb break like glass trigger in an encore? I don't mind sending it out, but if so to who?

ive found some very useful information on that topic at Bellm TC.  i do not believe he is doing trigger jobs at this time but he does have a download for instructions on how to do it yourself!

I don't know what this means as I'm new here. If it is censored because we are talking about a banned member, then please recommend something more inline with this forums wishes. If not, please give me more to go on.

The censored one is not discussed on this site.   It is one of the things that make GBO what it is.  It is not a problem for many of us.

I had a Gunsmith in VA do 6 trigger jobs for my encore frames.  $40 each and the triggers break at 2 1/2 pounds.  So sweet and I am very very pleased.

The VA Gunsmithīname is
Justin Munden
Amelia VA
phone 804 980-5480
Daves Sport Shop is the business he took over from his dad.
email is DSScustom@aol.com

Justin makes an awesome muzzleloader, smokeless power, large rifle magnum primer ignition barrel for encores.  I want one so bad I can taste it.  It uses 45 caliber spitzer rifle bullets and no sabot.  Elephant Killer for sure.

I got off subject but like I said, fantastic trigger work very reasonable and I got all six done in less than two weeks.  I think it was late Aug this year.  When I get home from South America, I am taking him two more to do.  Good luck.

Very easy to do with a spring kit from you know who... Took me about an hour and my encore now has a premium trigger...

According to a Lyman Digital trigger pull gauge, my Encore which was purchased NIB at Bass Pro is breaking at 2lb 10oz on average. I compared it back to back with my A bolt that has a 2.5lb Timney and they feel very similar in weight. Anybody else measure their factory trigger and if so what kinda results did you get?

That 2 pound 10 oz.  trigger from a new encore was definitely one that escaped Thompsonīs Quality Control people.  I bought three at a Gander Mountain in Richmond that Justin did that were way over 3 lbs.  Thatīs fixed for now unless they ever need to go to Thompson for warranty work.  First thing they do is put the trigger back to stiff original equipment. >:(

I was pleasantly surprised when I put the gauge on it. No detectable creep or over travel either. Maybe an employee at Thompson wanted to give the owner a good trigger that day! I still wouldn't mind a lighter pull weight. I'd like to take it to 1lb -1.5lb if possible. For some reason the trigger pull feels heavy on such a steep grip handle as what the encore rifle has.

+1 for Shots gunsmithing - Jim does quality work at a fair price.  Highly recommended after he did mine last year - a very crisp 2 lb. trigger now.

I'm not Keith but I've been around here a while.  Per the owner of this forum, that individual is a "non-person" here at GBO.  As Keith said, the subject is not open for discussion and individuals who try to cause trouble over it or press too hard for details are gone forthwith.

SORRY for apparently being the stoopid one here. All I needed or expected is a explanation. I understand that it is not my forum and will certinly abide by the rules . If this is a hardfast rule(which it definately seems to be) maybe it should be put in a sticky somewhere or included in the new members "please read". "You are most welcome here but,you may NEVER mention the name______".

Again....so very sorry. ----pruhdlr

Perhaps it would be useful to post it in the stickies over here?
That should improve the chances of it being read & observed here.

That's up to the moderator here.  Traditionally there has been far more trouble with it on the Handguns forum for some reason.

I just bent the trigger spring back twice as suggested in a thread here and now my trigger is 2#.  I followed up with a light polish of the trigger and sear and now have an excellent trigger on my .22LR Pro Hunter.
