Why Grandpa carries a gun
« on: October 14, 2010, 12:14:58 PM »
From age, comes wisdom..........Uh! If your not Liberal ;)

 Why Grandpa Carries A Gun

PEOPLE ASK  WHY?

Why Carry a Gun?

My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and

usually it's when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin.'

I don't carry a gun to kill people.

I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I  don't carry a gun to scare people.

I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I  don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.

I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.

I carry a gun  because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.

I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.

I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.

I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.

I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.

I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.

I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it.

I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police protection is an oxymoron.

Free citizens must protect themselves.

Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'.....author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

When I first married we went to visit her parents in Texas for the first time. Pickin us up from the Airport My wife climbed up into passengers side of her dads truck... to do so she needed to move his sawed off shotgun..

She said "DAD IS THIS THING LOADED?" ..

He replied ... Honey "if it aint loaded its just a stick, and dont do me no good now does it?"

throwing the rest of our luggage up into the back of the cab from the sidewalk ,
I knew right at that moment me and her dad were going to get along just fine!!!!!

Because I drove a wrecker for so long I have a very good relationship with the LEOs in this county.
I always carried a hand gun loaded in the front seat with me, I am not concealed weapons permit holder.
Many of local police have told me you can't carry or transport your weapon loaded.
I always give them the same answer. If it ain't loaded it's just very expensive rock.
I've never had to use the weapon but, I can't count the times that thefeel cold blue steel and walnut grips have been a great comfort to me. Why do I carry a gun because I can and the Constitution backs me up.

This is one of my favorite chain-mails.
I have never had to shoot anyone, but I have come real close. Too close!
Having a gun has kept me from going to the hospital or the morgue more than once.
I'm guessing that in most cases the gun doesn't have to be fired, but it does have to be there.

I have carried a gun for many years and have had to use it more than once. Now I'm outta that business, but still carry one.
Just a few months ago while sittin on my front veranda, a very large mean dog broke the front window out of it's owner home to get out, and decided to kill my dog in my yard. My wife was tryin to beat it off with a ball bat, when a Model 60 Smith came out of my pocket and took an ear off the dog, and he decided to go home. Yes, I shot a little high and missed most of his head (I said most, not all of it), but he and the owner got the message.
Shootin at dogs is less stressful than shootin at folks, and less paperwork to.
I am always armed. Even now.

A Model 60 Smith with a two inch barrel has fixed sights. It's for people work in close but, it's what I had on me. He was being a little over bearin towards me and I was shootin one handed, and in a hurry, but he got the point. He lost about 3/4s of his right ear, and part of his scalp, and me, momma, and ole Huff didn't get a scratch.

Listen man, grandpa carrys a gun cause he's a perv, dude. He just digs doin weird stuff because he knows old dudes can get away with stuff other people can't. After a busy day of picking up hot elderly babes at the nursing home and acting demented at the supermarket for fun, he retires to the library to study some heavy stuff like mathematical statistics. Then he makes sure people visiting his apartment catch a glimpse of his 44 bulldog, man.

Well this grandpa carries a gun because the bad guys do too. Add snakes and rabid animals, wait, that describes the bad guys. Aww heck, you get the point.  ;D In fact, I never carry less than two and often carry three. Quicker to grab another gun than reload.  Also I'm covered for up close and personal or reach out and touch someone. :)

Nope, concealed carry means CONCEALED carry.  ;D A 9mm derringer and a Kel Tec P-32 in special belt holsters under my shirt and a 9mm Springfield XD compact in a shoulder holster made into a t type tactical shirt under my button up one. Ya never know they're there untill they go bang! ;D I also carry two tactical knives. Hey, I was a Boy Scout, I believe in being prepared. Better to have and not need than to need and not have.  :D Besides, due to both my son's and my daughter's ocupations, the FBI and the Navy warned my wife and I that we need to be careful. Advice I take seriouse.

I know that I came from a different era than most here---and a different culture.
Most all I knew had a gun in the glove compartment---usually a Smith.
The Sheriff in our county said he had other things to worry about than goin around pickin up guns out of glove compartments in cars.
Where I grew up you had to go out of town to shoot---along a creek or river or someones pasture. That is difficult to do if you don't carry it.
When I was just a teenager going to honky tonks in E Texas---don't give me no grief about being a teenager in those places---they wouldn't let me run a tab---I noticed a buldge in a lot of waist pants.
I went to BBQ's where all carried open. Some pretty ones.
I was never a good fighter.
I was pretty slow also.
I could never find a cop when I needed assistance, for anything.
I carried one in Houston wherever I went--still do---in those days without benefit of permission.
Just who do the lawmakers think reads the laws.
You do it your way.
Blessings

My family, on my mother's side, is all from Texas. I had to laugh, when in Basic Training at Lacland AFB, the TI warned everyone that if they went into town not to get in any beefs in any bars. All those old men in them were carrying guns! That was already common knowledge to me.

carrying an being armed ,is just common sense these days..
without family to protect ,ive had to think it over again.. but my decision, after doing that is..
if he s robbing me tonight ..he s gonna need to rob my neighbor tommorrow..simply because he won t get much here..
mabe if i can stop him here ,i ll keep some woman from being raped or young father , mother or child from haveing to die, tommorrow night...that,, if i don t have the opportunity to hold him for the police
until they can get there..
me being old an slow..he s making a bad bet, if he thinks im gonna give him much chance at all ..if he s crossed the line..
if he gets me,, i just go where i wanted to go anyway..jmo

All who know me and those who have keys to my house know ONE Rule of Entry
especially after Dark, this including my son who no longer lives here
ANNOUNCE yourself......... ANNOUNCE your Self...... or Pray I somehow Miss
They know I feel I don't won't take time to ask
Is that you Johnny

God forbid
but its my wife
and Myself
