Acorns
« on: October 14, 2010, 03:05:25 PM »
I don't know about the rest of the state, but here in the S.W.(allegheny county) area the acorns are everywhere!! I have never seen acorns this big. I found some that are just slightly smaller than golf balls.

How does the rest of the state look?

I was out and about in Franklin County on Saturday with my son hunting squirrels.
Acorn and hickory nut crop was excellent. Big and plentiful.

Clarion Cty seems to have a lot of hickory and red oak nuts........don't see a lot around the white oaks.  Maybe the thousands of deer are getting to them before me !  ;D

I live in the North Central part of the state, Tioga county. We have a very good crop of acorns, but not like we had last year. There is a fence row between my farm and another and last year this single row of trees had the ground carpeted. I would say this year is a good one, but I never seen anything like it was last year.
