New breechplug
« on: December 08, 2003, 02:30:56 PM »
I just received the new plug friday and went to the range on sunda. Where I discovered a total different rifle, it shot 3 pellets in 2inch group    at  100yards with 300gr. xtp. I am very very happy with the new plug.    There wasn't a noticable crud ring, but I run a wet patch between every  couple rounds.

Hi,
I am new to muzzle loading but have been shooting firearms for many years. I have an Encore and can not do better than 6 inch groups at 100 yds. I sent the 209 X 50 barrel in to T/C and they replaced the breech plug with the new Gen. III plug and sent it back to me saying it shoots 1 1/2 groups at 100 yds. Using 100 gr. pyrodex, 250 gr. bullet. My qeustion is can just changing the breech plug increase the accuracy that much? Do to the snow and other commitments I will not get out to shoot it until late Jan.. Thanks for any info and opinions you can give me.
