45 ACP contender barrels

I've seen auctions and ads for TC barrels in 45 ACP in various lengths such as 10, 12, and 14 inches and would imagine they are available in 16" and longer. I know some ammo has been shown to actually lose velocity in a 16" barrel.

Assuming the use of a scope so that sight radius is not an issue, what length would you recommend?

I have an MGM Encore barrel in 45 acp that is sixteen inches long. It is
a hoot to "ring the gong" with it at 100 yards. I shoot medium loads
with Laser Cast 200 gr bullets. It is fun to shoot and popular and other
shooters always want a turn or two...or half a box of ammo worth.

WW whitbox 230 gr's only pick up about 80FPS  but reload with a less than max charge of HS7 under a 255  RFN Lee bullet averages   1050 FPS.   Could go a grain higher but why.     Yes i have 2nd the fun of hitting a gong at 100 and 200 yar        Forgot to mention my 45 barrel is an 18" bull and it handles like a dream with rynite stocks on them

The first thing I did after picking up my Contender was call Ed and buy a 10" 45 ACP barrel for it.  Don't exactly know why, but I really wanted one, and it was worth it.  Good fun shooting light to medium loads out of it, while still getting good velocity and accuracy because of the barrel length.
