EGW Base for a 116
« on: October 17, 2010, 04:09:38 PM »
I just got a new old model 116 30/06 with the flat rear.  I had a pair of Weaver bases, front extension and regular rear, so I put them on.  I have a Vari-XII 4-12 that I wanted to put on for load testing but the spacing is still too long.  I ordered an EGW 1 piece rail and I was just curious if anyone has ran that base on their rifle and if so what are your thoughts?  What base do you guys run on your LA Savages?

Here is the base:  http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productnumber=178979

Thanks

I run a B-Square one-piece.  I'm sold on the one-piece bases.  If I ever have a problem with mine, I'll get something like the EGW.  The only problem is it getting in the way for loading the magazine.  Mine has a slight cut-out that helps, but it's still a bit cumbersome, but it's rock-solid and I don't have to worry about my zero shifting because of base or ring movement.

I just put one on a S/A savage, and i love it.  it doesnt seem to be in the way any more than the scope itself.  I'm not good enough to tell if it is an improvement over two piece bases, but it seems like it should be much more stable.
