Hey Bogmaster the muskrats have been busy!!!
« on: October 20, 2010, 05:28:07 PM »
Tom
I headed out through the same country I ran through 8 days ago.The rats have put up lots more houses.More and more of the sloughs have houses on them.I was surprised at how small some of the little sloughs were that had rat houses on them. Now all I need is 300 Duke 1 1/2 coilsprings and a pint of Lenons Rat Lure. The waterfowl population has increased in the last week.Lots more mallards, pintails, greenwing teal,Canada geese and Tundra Swans. Our water trapping opens Nov.6th.
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!

The rat numbers sound good for you. Hope you have a ball.
I never liked 1 1/2 coils for my rats--the #1 stop loss is quicker for me.
I need to see if any rats survived our big flood.

The 1 1/2 coils will also be for fox, coon and mink. There is so much more opportunity to trap water critters here than in where I was in Montana.I do have 2 requests to come"trap the coyotes that kill our calves".It's from coworkers and I won't say no.

Bill where are you at now? I do like the #1 1/2 coils for mink and coon at my pocket sets.
It sounds like you better forget about those flea busses and hit the rats hard.

Tom
I moved to South Dakota.I'm 28 miles from the Missouri River(Lake Oahe),south and west of Aberdeen. The last couple of years I helped take care of my father until he passed away.I was also doing some travel nursing.I moved back here to retire, hopefully in about 20 months.Had a heart attack about 7 weeks ago. They put in a stint and kicked me out of the hospital.I went back to work in a week.
I haven't had the opportunities for water trapping since I was a kid living in Forest lake MN ,in the 1960's.We are blessed in the fact that we have almost no beaver here ;D.Got to get back into water trapping.
