ANTICIPATION......

It's almost here!!!!  ;D at least that is what the tracking says..........

I bought a small mortar cast from cannon raised in 1846 from the Royal George,

the Royal George sank at anchor taking an admiral with it in 1782, a sudden squall

swamped it through the lower gun ports, being in port it only had a skeleton crew

and they were not prepaired for the squall..... I have seen many small cannon cast

from this ship in the 1840's but this is the first mortar I have seen,  I'll post some

photo's tonight!  ;D

Thats better than my loosing my new cannon . wife thinks it is in the bottom of the trench I dug for the new underground wiring we did .  :'(

How would it have gotten there?

Maybe take a metal detector and sweep the trenches for a really strong signal.  But I can't believe that's where it is.

Are you talking about the cannon you used for the postal shoot?
I have to say that I'm also sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to hear how your gun came to be 'laid to rest'. :D

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

I'll be darned, so I've been wasting my time trying to figure out just why in the world he would have had a "cannon" next to a trench he was digging in the ground. Earnie!!!!! :P :P :D

You weren't wasting your time...we have been known to break out cannons at the Taft Estates for just about any occasion...finish up digging a trench...great opportunity for firing a cannon salute...should have seen us last week. We  had a party, party hats and all!...but that Party would be more appropriate for the Martini board.

Yeah I think that's were it may have ended up I planned on taking it to Williamsburg a few weeks back and when I got there 
I couldn't find it and thought I forgot to bring it .... I guess it's time to clean out behind the seats..........

At least I know mine isn't in a trench some where......

Sad part is I have two digital camera's and I can't find the new one either!
