Binoculars

Hey all,

I need to pick up a set of compact binoculars for deer hunting.  I dont want crap, but dont want to break the bank.  Any suggestions?

What does compact mean to you and how much are you willing to spend???

I don't want something taking up extra space in my backpack.  I carry enough as it is.  As far as money,  $200 would be my limit.

I see and I have no suggestions I'm afraid.  I carry bino's around my neck and just behind my right arm at all times (you can see the strap across my chest in my avatar) and for $200...no clue.

im not a fan of compact binoculars. Optics and light transmition even in a 200 dollar pair is pretty dismal. The only time i carry them is maybe walking it the swamp in the daytime when i know range wont be long or time looking in them will be measured in seconds and theres no chance of low light. So i dont worry about spending a truck load of money on them. Ive got a couple pairs of cheap nikon compacts that work fine for that purpose and in all reality a really good set of 8x30s could do the same thing and a guy is only carrying a few more onces of weight and wouldnt have to go back to camp for a good set at dusk.
