Thanks for this post, P-C! I've only browsed the table of contents and a few chapters, but this book seems to contain a load of useful information; just the section on different sources for charcoal is worth one's time to read.
My personal judgement on trying to manufacture BP myself is that I would never risk the attempt, unless circumstances brought about by federal laws caused it to become a necessity; but I've already got the address bookmarked ;) (just in case).

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

It's always better to download things and save them on your computer than rely on a website to be there when you need it.

To carry that to its logical conclusion, you should back it up to CD or some other long term storage if you really want it.  Hard drives crash too.
