dry weather
« on: October 23, 2010, 05:09:53 PM »
We have not had rain in weeks.  Water for deer is unavailable except for farm ponds.  The woods are bone dry. This weekend we had clear skies and a full moon.  I haven't been seeing deer in the usual places like I did in years past.  I think the deer are roaming at night and laying down during the day.   I don't think they like walking in the noisy dry leaves.  What do you think?  Also, they may be resting up before the rut kicks in soon.

What do you think?

They are on acorns right now where I hunt.  Last weekend I saw deer move through soy bean fields and peanut fields without stopping to eat until they crossed tand stopped at a pin oak tree.
