Barrel Accessory Program woes
« on: October 24, 2010, 07:23:10 AM »
Anyone got the skinny on what is happening with the Barrel Accessory Program(BAP)? From my phone call, sounds like they have a total of 10 barrels in stock and half of those are in 7.35mm Italian. Are they going to phase the BAP out or they're still floundering through the acquisition or run out of money to stock any up?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Who'd ya call to learn about 7.35 Italian barrels, or more appropriately, what were they smoking?  ::) They have no barrels to speak of at this time and won't until next year, just an educated guess from previous calls, but they make more money on complete firearms, so in this time of economic hardship they're putting their resources into the best money maker to stay solvent. Ask again in the first quarter of 2011.  ;)

Carcano Huh..... Boy thats too bad, I had my heart set on either a Jap or a 8mm Lebel......Maybe if I write Remington and ask em, they will come thru.
Honestly, I would really like them to come out with some of the newer Hornady /Marlin/Ruger cartridges, I would think that would really give the Handi Rifle program a shot in the BUTT !!    Just my opinion ya know.....   "Papa Jack" ;D

I called NEF last week to inquire about available barrels, from their accessory barrel program.
I asked what was available. Answer: "Pretty much nothing"! Are they going under?

I called Friday about a few barrels. Only thing they told me it's about a 5 weeks after they receive your retriever.

Hopefully that means .223 barrels since my niece bamboozled me out of my .223 bull barrel Handi.  :'(

Now the other two nieces are dropping hints that they too need a .223 Handi just like their big sis got. Sheesh, what is an uncle to do?  ::)

All in all, this is good news indeed. Thanks to Brian for that update and I'm going to give them a call tomorrow to get my receiver headed out to them next payday with the USPMO for another barrel or two.  ;D

That's what I'm talking about!!  ::) We know they make 35 Rem barrels because there are members here that just bought 35 Rem rifles, that's just more misinfo from Madison.  :-\

I just got off the phone with H&R again.  This time I was told that the 35 Rem barrel will be offered right after hunting season.  The lady I talked to this time told me she is in charge of the web site updates and to watch the web site to see when the barrels are ready.  This is the the H&R that I used to deal with.

I had a second barrel fitted at the factory and would not do it again. At first it seems like a great deal BUT after you get a second scope, pay for shipping, insurance, the barrel and fitting it is almost worth getting a complete new rifle.
This might not be the case if you use open sights on the new barrel.
I prefer the new rifle approach as I then have a separate rifle on demand and it makes selling the rifle a lot easier etc.
Just my thoughts
