« on: October 24, 2010, 11:28:30 AM »
Are any of you using dryland sets in conjunction with water sets for mink?Other than blind sets in trails do any of you use dirthole sets for mink?I want to have some sets working when the Big Freeze comes.

I made up some mink lure that consisted of mink glands and fish oil. Made two dirt hole set within a foot or so of and heavily used trail and had two mink in those sets the next day. I made the sets thinking I would pick up a coon or two, but was very pleased to see the two mink. I'm always putting in high bank coon sets in case the water rises and puts my other set out of comission. From now on I'll be putting in a few dry mink sets at every stop as well.

Put in your water line and then when making first check put dryland sets in such as dirtholes, bodygrips in trails ect.  When making your dirt holes set your trap an inch or two lower than ground in front of dirt hole to guide mink   to trap pan while investigating dirt hole... another thing, make sure you antifreeze your dirt hole with what ever you are comfortable in using.  You dont want to go back and redo your dry land set after it freezes.  Usually  when it freezes hard, mink travel alot more looking for food, so be ready.

Bill, let me know how sleeping on that pet moss goes.
