Looking good, Rayfan! I've got one of the .56 caliber models, they're one of the best miniature naval gun kits out there at this time.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Thanks guys. Next up is the Dahlgren since I already have the mortar, oddly enough I saved the one with the fewest pieces for last.

Ray,

Very nice looking cannon. Did you make or buy the screw eyes on the side of the carriage? I'm in the process of
finishing mine and looking for high quality brass screw eyes.

Josco, the whole thing came as a kit, pre-cut and mostly drilled, and all the brass ready to be polished.

Southpaw, due to the whole 'I live in New York' thing, nobody near me carries Goex, I shoot Pyrodex.

I got on here last winter and built a golf ball, a beer can and the bowling ball mortar and a desktop ship cannon, This winter is very boring not having a big gun to built, but I am making a flinter rifle, 13/16s- 48 in. barrel, 45 cal. full stock in maple, Its No. 39 rifle and that it, Next is putting a new barrel on a M1 garand and accuartizing it, Then spring time to get the mortars out, Joe

Can you tell me who makes the kit?

        Thanks

Well without stepping on the sponsors toes, Jim Joline of Best Model Cannons, but he sells them already made, the kits are sold at veteranarms.com

There is also a mortar, Dahlgren cannon, thunder mug, and now a new swivel gun based on the large 24lb cannon.
