Tim and all,was telling my buddy about the forearm "adjustment" and he volunteered to bring over his two Handi's to give them a try.

We did both by sanding the wood. We did it in very small increments, trying the fit as we went. Although probably not needed we drilled the holes in the forearm a little deeper and installed somewhat bigger screws.

Great info, them FAQ's. Thanks to all for their inputs. ---pruhdlr

I'd like to say I am sorry for my last post...I didn't mean to offend anyone here.  I would like to continue to report on this rifle and learn from the others here that own them.
I took my new Handi to the range a week ago, on the way it slid across the seat of the truck and fell off the seat between the seat and pass. door and put a big ding in the forearm. After getting to the range and putting up a new target, I fired one round, no hole seen ( 3X9X40 scope @ 100 yrds)  fired 4 more rounds, looked like they went in the dirt. Put the gun back in the truck, came home. Cleaned it, parked it in the corner.
Maybe tomorrow I'll RE-Bore site it and see if I can at least hit a 4x8 sheet of plywood....Set up a 25 or 30 yard target and see just where it's shooting.
I had loaded up some 240 grn Hornady HP, over a mid range load of IMR 4198 just to try it out. They were the only bullets I had in .44 caliber.
Hopefully my order from Grafs will get here soon , I ordered some LEE 6 cavity mold handles, I have the Ranch Dog 432-265 mold but no handles....
thats all I got for now, Again, I am Sorry....  Papa Jack

Oh Man, PJ, that is a real bummer! Some of the guys are doing some nice paint jobs, so you could fill that dinger and do the same, or get another forearm off the classifieds here, they come up fairly regular (or even from H&R, not too bady priced last I knew).
I usually go the initial 50yd. thing and even with a decent bore sighting (no new gadgets, just by eye) I almost always am low for POI. Your mid-level load dropping low at 100 with that brick doesnt sound abnormal. Maybe make a load about 15-20% below top to try? You are probably close to getting results so dont let this ruin your day! You'll get it!

PJ,

Now you have a stock set that matches several of mine!  I  have been shooting deer with a Beretta that had the stock trashed the first time I took it hunting.  Deer didn't seem to notice the stock was messed up when I shot them with a slug.  I would be more concerned with the scope and the mount since you are more than a little off of your zero.  Hopefully you get it figured out soon and have her printing good targets.

I plan to work on the rifle and loads today. we seem to be in the "Eye" of the latest monsoon so I need to get things checked out and see just what happens before the "drizzle" starts again.
I don't mind the ding too much, I hate to just beat up guns needlessly, but damage does happen on hunting rifles at times.  can try to steam out the damage and fill it and sand it off, no big deal. Out of four of these rifles, this is the last one purchased and the first to get beat up...  :(
