How are those hunted? I'm from a family of cattlemen in Northern Nebraska, living now in KC.
You've got to hunt them at night, don't you? They are day sleepers, and are pretty well hidden in their dens.

The picture posted was taken toward the end of August. About eight in the morning my wife was watering when she had a lion come within 50' of her, stop and make eye contact. My dog then went after it and it took off. Found over a dozen tracks. I think it was trying to get a drink out of our pond which is just off my backyard.

Another recent mountain lion sighting in central Kansas. An employer I work with is also a substitute rural mail carrier. She was on a route when she pulled over to the side of the road near a wooded creek area. She got out and went around to the passenger side to rearrange some of the mail. When she got ready to leave she was checking her mirrors before pulling out onto the road and in the passenger side rearview mirror was a mountain lion standing in the ditch looking at the vehicle. She said it looked close and remember what it says on the bottom of that mirror.

Interesting thread....
I live in Northeast Kansas and my home property adjoins about 1200 acres of farm land. Back in mid November I was out on my tractor in the early morning, just past sun up. I had gone out to burn some brush and I was sitting still on the tractor, my jacket and hat blended in with the orange paint pretty well and I wasn't moving at all. My position was partially obscured by trees and brush. I noticed some movement in my periferal vision and I slowly turned my head in that direction - to my amazement it was a mountain lion moving into some deeper brush. Interestingly it was just a couple of days before that I had found deer remains within about 150' of where I saw the cougar. Local dept. of wildlife will not admit that mountain lions are in the area but my sighting has been supported by others. I've been told that mountain lions have a range of over 100 miles and that sightings during the day are very rare. I'll take this as a once in a lifetime experience.

I wonder if my wife's sighting and the other sighting I posted are the same lion. The sightings would have only been about 12 miles apart.
