Here in my part of VA our early MZ season opens Saturday.
I have never missed an opening day of any deer season in my life since the first time I was able to go hunting alone.
Well this all came about and brought on by my own words.
I help coach LL baseball and have done so for years.
I did it on my oldest sons teams and the same on the youngest.
We finished what is called fall ball this past Tuesday night, at least I thought we did!
I made a statement to the boys that we could play one more game if they wanted to.
I told them that if they won they would then play Saturday for the championship.
Then I stuck my foot in my mouth.
I stated that I have never missed an opening day of deer season but if they won I would give it up and come coach them on Saturday morning.
Well, they won, 16 to 4.
Good for them!!!
I will gladly give it up for them.
Then I thought I could maybe get in a couple of hours Saturday evening after the game.
WRONG!
Tonight my son asked if he could have a party at our house on Saturday evening with about 30 to 50 friends from ball & school.
My boy also wrestles on his high school team.
Guess what ole dad is going to be doing on Saturday???
Oh well, we have clear through the first of January with open season and two a day on private land.
Plenty of time to hunt.
There's only so much time one can spend with their kids, and for me, that's every chance I get!!!
I hope we win!!!
