I hit the range this AM with four boxes of hand-loads and my Trotter Special 32-20. No chrono this trip.
1) 100Gr Hornady XTP, Rem SR match primer and AA1680 powder:
Very good shooter!! About 1" at fifty yards off the bench and under 2" at 100. SHOULD be going 1700 fps. I had allot of these as its a older load my Marlin 32-20 likes. I shot about ten rounds offhand at fifty yards. ALL went into 2"!!!
2) 115Gr Speer GDHP, CCI SR primer and RL7 powder:
Also a very good shooter! again 1" at fifty but at 100 its closer to 3". This is a brand new bullet, designed for the 327Magnum. Unsure how it would preform on game.
3) 125Gr Sierra HP, (.308dia) CCI SR primer and RL7 powder:
This one is by far the WORST EVER!!!! 4-5" groups at 50 yards!!!! Guess this barrel doesn't like 30 cal bullets!
4) 123Gr Hornady SP, (7.63x39 bullet) Remington SR Match primer and H4227 Powder:
I found a WINNER!!!! Nearly one hole at 50 yards!!!! Moving to 100, it's just under 1"!!! There is also no pressure signs. So I'm heading down to the loading room and loading some more and upping charges.
Just wanted to share!
