454 casull bullet
« on: October 31, 2010, 06:01:55 PM »
Has anyone handloaded the hornady 240gr xtp/mag.   I can't seem to find a load that shoots like I want it to.

Has anyone had success with this bullet in a classic carbine w/ 20" barrel?  Do the 300 grainers seem to shoot with better accuracy?

Thanks

I think the 454 in a H&R will be to fast for the XTP to hold together good. Years ago 32gr of 296 gave very poor performance with the XTP in a 7 1/2". I had my best luck with the 340gr HC JDJ but he don't sell bullets anymore on his site.
