I Got The Itch Again ( pictures )
« on: November 01, 2010, 05:44:00 PM »

Well this started out as a I'm board and keep my hands busy project. But I had a beautiful day outside cool breeze. So I opened the shop doors and started working. Turns out we had a-few cool days. And I am almost dun. In two weekends.

I started with a piece of 3" X 21" 1018 and cut it in half. Now I can make two.

Got the end squared and cut down. And turned around.

Started the taper of the cannon and marking the bands.

I planed on stopping at this point and boring the bore. But!!!

It was going so well that I couldn't stop!!!!!! So now I have to mess up a section on the barrel for the steady rest. So I can do the bore and fix it later.

If you have bronze tips for the steady, use some moly disulphide grease and it won't make much of a mark.
