has anyone used the cassette taps from Johnny steward or loman (spelling???)
I was thinking about getting the deer rattling & grunt tape, spring turkey tape, loan crow tape and maybe a distress call of the rabbit tape,
Do they work or will I just be wasting my money???

I have used a wide variety of Johnny Stewart tapes to call in coyotes, bobcat, and grey fox. They seem to work extremely good some days and some days not so good. But thats hunting. Match the tape to the local game. In areas where there are predominately cottontail rabbits, us a cottontail tape. Grey fox and coyote often come in fast and straight while bobcats tend to drag their tails :wink: Crows are easy, unless they have been previously hunted. They do not seem to forget much. Especially being shot at. The C203 and C206 tapes work very well. Best of Luck & Good Hunting

The crows around me are not hunted much at all. I know trying to call a bobcat when We don't have any around me is useless

that is why I just listed the few that i think will work.
The only thing i done like is the calling system looks so bulky and heavy, but i have plains to take care of that. all i need to do is get the few tapes i need than convert them to mp-3 format and use one of the new small light weight mp-3 players and a small set of computer speakers. 1 memory card should be able to hold all the hunting tapes then during the off season use the player to listen to my music when i am fishing

:grin: I have used the Crow tape with great results. I wear full cammo and place the player around 50 yards away with a few decoys. I use both shotgun and 22 rifle on the same hunt and hunt on a wood line for cover. The crows will flock to the sound but after the shooting starts, few will land close.

I have used about all the tapes imaginable with my caller. My cassette caller is wireless remote control out to 100 yards. I have used it extensively in Africa for all the predators including lions and hyenas, leopards, jackals, and caracal cats. We call them in every nite or nearly so with a white tail fawn in distress tape. They have never heard a deer in their lives but they know the sound of something in trouble! Here is a photo of a lion we called in last week.

I have used it with the same tape in SE Alaska for bears and wolves. I have always wanted to call in and shoot a Wolverine but no luck yet. The Wolves and bears in Alaska have never heard a white tail deer either! The sound does not matter to a hungry predator. If it sounds like food they will come looking. Just be sure the speaker is pointed into the wind(breeze) and you're well hidden.
