Anyone else been in the woods
« on: November 02, 2010, 04:06:29 PM »
Anyone else been in the woods yet. I have seen plenty of deer but not a decent shot with the 43# stick bow and I passed on the does with a muzzleloader hoping the bucks would follow them in. The rut is just getting going here on Oklahoma around my lease so it will only get better I hope going into rifle season. 2 more weeks of great bow season hunting before gun season though.   Good luck.

Been bow hunting for 2 weeks in Northern WI. Seeing a variety of deer about half of my outings. Better than last year.

Seeing lots of doe here in my back yard(the woods) camera showing a lot of activity, but no big uns yet. Had a shadow of one in the background and saw some big prints but he's camera shy i think.  hopin he'll just show up next week.  We have the new 13 inch rule thats gonna be a big bummer for the first year or two. But ya can't eat horns anyway!

This has been a terrible season for me!   :(  I spent opening week hunting and last week and I'm going this week.  So far I have seen one deer which I killed, and 2 coyotes, one of which I killed.  The week before the opener my trail cam had over 600 pics on it, 4 or 5 different bucks and a heard of does and fawns.  The week I was gone it took just under 200 pics, all deos and fawns and one new 6 pt.  All of them were at night!

With the hot wx down in So. Jawja it doesn't seem the rut has kicked in yet.  Maybe this week...

I haven't been out once yet. >:(
Gotta work while I got the chance. My vacation is in two weeks though, 9 days in the shawnee national forest, then I'm going to Wisc. for Thanksgiving weekend.

Seeing lots of does and the bucks are chasing some. Had a large bodied one horned buck  4 X coming to a grunt call but he got downwind and turned off at 30 yards. Too far for the stickbow.  One week till rifle season and they should be in full rut by then.

Son called in a decent 8 point with his grunt tube opening morning and I rattled in a 8 point Sunday morning.

Been out every day this week for WI rifle season, nothing but does, so I shot one of them.

That little one was blowing the grunt tube while his dad was walking with him when the buck run down off the ridge and crossed the road all bristled up. My son had him start blowing it again and the buck jumped back onto the road again and stopped to find them. The boy made about a 70 yard shot and dropped the buck with that .223 Handi rifle.
