XS Sights
« on: November 03, 2010, 11:13:56 AM »
After owning my marlin 39a for 4 years now and struggling to find a good sight that worked for me i now have one that i like.  I had the original buckhorn sight on it which i couldn't stand to use, then tried a scope which seemed to high up for a good cheek weld, then to a lyman peep, and back to a scope again.
A couple months ago I called XS sights directly to order a ghost ring sight and today it finally arrived in the mail.  I removed the front sight from the rifle and cleaned off the 30 years of nasty hard grease and mounted the new front sight.  My old rear sight was chopped off to make a cheap dovetail filler and then i mounted the new rear sight.  The aperature that came installed was too big so i swapped it out for the smaller .191  aperature.  This is a sweet combo for a squirrel rifle and i am not disappointed by it at all.
One last thing is to sight it in which i will do tomorrow.  The leaves are off the trees now and the corn is off the fields.  We have had a few good frosts so now its squirrel hunting time.  I can taste the stew already.
