Help to ID and old Savage .22
« on: November 05, 2010, 09:49:26 AM »
Greetings all,
I just joined this forum and it looks to be full of helpful info so I thought I'd ask.  My friend's wife handed me this rifle she found while cleaning out a house that she's selling.  Sorry about the poor quality of the pic.  I can't find a model number anywhere on it.  The only stamping reads, Manufactured by Savage Arms, Utica, NY and below it are patent dates of 1905, 1915 and 1917.
The stock looks kind of like a military trainer of sorts.  It doesn't have a butt-plate and it's missing the magazine.  There's a lot of surface rust but the bore is squeaky clean.  I'm hoping to clean it up, find a replacement mag and take it shooting.  Any help with the ID of a model number would be appreciated.
Thanks
