Question on Tikka rings and bases
« on: November 05, 2010, 04:45:23 PM »
Hello everyone,
I just purchased a new Tikka T3 Lite stainless in 25-06 today. I was wondering if the rings and bases supplied with the gun are good or if I should go with another brand. I have heard some people say they work fine and others say that they are trash. I was wondering what the thoughts of those that own Tikka rifles are about the mounts. Thank you very much.

I've used their rings on all my Tikka rifles (6) and have never had any problems. I fact, I prefer their rings over a lot of the well known makers of scope rings currently on the market.

Check out the 2nd sticky at the top of this forum page, it is there for a reason. I had a problem with the factory rings on my 6.5x55. The problem is that the front ring has a recoil pin, but the rear one doesn't, and there are two screws per cap. With all screws tight, the rear ring eventually slid forward on the dovetail and the scope slipped forward in the front ring. Switched over to the Talley lightweights on that rifle and my 338WM and haven't had a problem since. Relatively low cost (no separate bases to buy), light, 4 screws per cap and very well made. I'm sold on them.
