We have been saying this all along that something like this would happen, or worse.

Wolf lovers will say the wolves were only acting naturally and blame the humans.

The guys still have to deal with the  Federal Investigation for killing an endangered species.

In Montana we have the Castle doctrine, we don't have to flee from a felon when we fear for our life ...its state law...I wonder what would happen if in Federal court if  the principals of state law castle doctrine was claimed as a defense.  The state law it's self would not be a positive defense in federal cour, but the principals might.

Until a person gets hurt or worse the problem wont get fixed.

If you read the comments in the Daily Interlake, the wolf lovers are blaming these guys.

I read in a statement from relatives of these wolves that they "were all good wolves and were recently enrolled in college and turning their lives around, never did kill any live stock, and the hunters were out and out liers".

These wolves were just doing what wolves do, the hunters were doing what hunters do. This is simply nature taking its course, the sooner the wolves learn to fear man the sooner all of this nonsense will end. Plain old sport hunting wolves will acomplish nearly every goal of wolf managment. My God look at the wild turkey, as a game species they are invaluable, as an endangered species they were a paragraph in a text book. I may travel in the wrong circles but have never been invited to a Wild Wolf Foundation banquet where thousands of dollars are raised for habitat restoration or reintroduction. ( But I'm pretty sure my tax dollars have been raided for the same.)
