No National Day of (Christian) Prayer in US Capitol bldg..
« on: November 13, 2010, 01:46:35 AM »
That's right! The Obama admin kicked the Christian "National Day of Prayer" out of the capitol building.. They did not however, say a thing about the weekly Muslim prayer (recruitment?) meetings in the capitol. Allowed to placate the first Muslim elected to congress.
Now we learn that their "prayer meeting" included terrorists. In fact one of their treasured guests is now #1 most wanted terrorist !

  http://www.thehotjoints.com/2010/11/12/weekly-muslim-prayer-gathering-on-capital-hill-has-included-terrorists/

These stories have been in the news..we are all aware of the Muslim weekly prayers and the fact that the president allowed the National Day of Prayer to be 'kicked to the curb'..... unless one is totally stupid, such actions HAVE to tell us SOMETHING...
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

What more do you expect from the new age leftists?  Judaism and Christianity are enemies of their system of thought.
We learned the true nature of Islam on 11 Sept 2001.

Show your appreciation for Islam....eat more bacon.

Hey - the guy is history, quit worrying.  just as he whizzes on everything Bush did so will the next GOP change everything osama did.  It's a shame we have to go through this but hey, the lesson is invaluable - DON'T EVER LET SOMEONE LIKE THAT GET ELECTED AGAIN.  OK?  Kabish?  Kapish?

GJ, Your link only addresses the part of the point of IGs post, I.e. the cancellation of national day of prayer. Your link says nothing to refute the claim that a terrorist participated in a weekly Muslim prayer at the Capitol. So based on both links ... Christians and other nonmuslims should pray privately annually, but Muslims should pray corporatey and publicly on a weekly basis. Setting the participation of terrorists aside for a moment (does TSA handle security at the Capitol?) Help me understand how this is an equitable policy under the establishment clause?

Snoops is very liberal.  Previous presidents have made speaches commerating the day, he doesn't nor does he observe it publicly.  Other presidents have.  Obama is the first president that doesn't attend a chruch in Washington.  Since he left Rev. Wrights racist church, there must not be any in Washington for him to attend, however he does allow Muslims in every Friday to the whitehouse for their day.  Fridays are their day of worship, Jews Saturday and Christians Sunday.  MMMM....   Defend him all you want, but he is a liar and Muslim lover.  Clinton was a sleezeball.  My medical insurance has gone up drastically since the Health Care bill, as well as co-pays.  I don't like big government, I don't like liars, health care was supposed to go down?  Unemployment went to 9.6% and was only supposed to not get over 8%.  He has made things worse.  Socialism doesn't work, it leads to stagnant economies and high unemployment.  Check out the past 20 years of European countries.  High unemployment plus low economic growth rates.

Well, are they factual, in this case? That's what is at issue. I can understand the charge that they're very liberal, though, when they debunk BS which bolsters our prejudices/position.

Balony - Ronaldus Magnus rarely attended church while he was in DC. I read his autobiography - An American Life - he wrote that this was because it was too much trouble with his security detail, and too disruptive to whatever church he went to.

I didn't go to church this last Sunday; instead, I stayed home with my daughters.

Have any of our Presidents incessantly attended church ?   As a nation built on Christian values, shouldn't the President of the United States of America lead the example of regular church attendance ?  Should the President of a Christian nation highly uphold prayer before the nation's young, as well as the old ?  Would a nation be held responsible for its non-compliance to these values ?   ???

gj, yt ... there is a truth in here isn't there? But one some folks are stepping cautiously around, and that truth is the inequitable application of the establishment clause by this administration. Its true that the Judeo-Christian faiths have enjoyed a certain primacy in that our Presidents have historically embraced some form of those views. Some have accused the "religious right" of having control and feel as though this administration represents the throwing off of the repressive chains of the "moral majority", and then gone on to oppress and discriminate against their alleged historical oppressors. That's neither theologically nor historically accurate, nor is it equitable in any sense. However this President appears to have been caught up in the fervor, and gone to great lengths to distance himself from the Judeo-Christian communities in the US. Its one thing to simply be silent; its quite another to show bias in even the most subtle forms.

I don't fault him for his irreligiosity - he represents much of America in that regard; he's not a Christian by the tenets of the faith, and calling yourself one doesn't make it so. But neither is he a Muslim, by the tenets of their faith, although he has an affinity for them. Philosophically his stands are all represented by a moralistic therapeutic deistic worldview. He's neither intelligent nor humble enough to stop and check himself for a moment though, and be honest with himself and the world; but again that's no different than many Presidents before him, or Americans for that matter. I do fault him for failing to be the caretaker of the Constitution as is his office, and the oath he swore.

gj, if you can stop the pman baiting for moment. I am sincerely wanting to hear someone synthesize all the truths in this thread and reach a conclusion. In light of all the facts present, minus the hysterics, how is this an equitable application of the establishment clause?

The confirmed points, for reference:
1. Snopes acknowledges that the President has made the National Day of Prayer a matter of personal privacy.
2. Snopes acknowledges that this is different than administrations in the past.
3. There is a weekly time of Muslim prayer hosted at the white house, neither private nor personal.

I am left to conclude that per our President, all prayer EXCEPT for that of Muslims, is to be personal and in private. Muslims are encouraged, to the point of concession in the White House, to pray corporately and publicly. This does not appear to be impartial to me.

This shows me that he is not a Christian, and that he is either a Muslim or a Muslim sympathizer.  Either of the later I cannot support in light of the terroism the Muslims allow without criticism of their brothers.

Guzzi; By now, most of us know better than to trust SNOPES implicitly. It ios not so much that they outright lie by commission, but we have observed them to lie by ommission..and they do spin(their left side wheel ;) :D). Here's an article at the time of the event which appeared in the LA Times..not exactly a rightist bastion !
   http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/05/obama-cancels-national-prayer-day-service.html

In ways the left gloated over the banishment of things Christian from the capitol. Much of Obammy's base is made up of Christophobes.
Somehow, much of the left detects great danger from Christianity but views radical Islam as benign,,, ??? :P

TeamNelson gave a clear, concise description of the situation in his posts #13 and #16 ...too bad all cannot "see the forest for the trees". ;) :D :P

Well, maybe it's because they've never really took to heart the death, burial, and resurrection of the only begotten son of GOD.
When I started this Christian walk, I'd catch myself in a lie, and I'd ask myself that same question.  How can I claim to be a Christian and continue to do that ?  When I pretty much had that base covered, I found myself involved in other situations requiring the same question...  Spirtually speaking ~  it kept me on my knees.  Now I've learned to stay on my knees to prevent any of those things sneaking up on me.

Crusty, you are correct. I've only been able to confirm that there is a weekly Muslim prayer meeting on Capital Hill, sponsored by a congressman - the one in the link IG posted above. Its a program of official record as its sponsored by an official, so Congressional records are available to validate.

However, while Obama has celebrated Rammadan in his house (a practice started by Bush), a Seder, Christmas, etc., he has broken with the tradition observed by numerous predcessors, and specifically did not host a National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House. This seems odd, since a National Day of Prayer per the Congressional act is inherently ecumenical, i.e. accepting of all faiths, while the individual events above are very much faith specific. And in his proclamation this year he indicated that prayer ought to be personal, yet at each of the events hosted in his home, prayers specific to the faith were offered publicly & corporately (contrary to his proclamation). So I must revise my previous conclusions.

1. The President has made the National Day of Prayer a matter of personal privacy.
2. This is different than administrations in the past.
3. The President has celebrated religious observances and public prayer from several faiths in his home.
4. The President will not host an event which would unify those same faiths in his home.

This reaffirms my belief that he is in fact a Deist (Moral Therapeutic type), but he is not really interested in harmony between faiths. Again, how is this an equitable application of the establishment clause?

"In GOD we trust" is on all our currency and a fundamental founding concept of this once great nation.
IMHO, we are systematically chipping away against this. No equality from the White House regarding the National Day of Prayer is just another step. Will this help in the NWO? Will we have to remove GOD next to appease the muslims?
