unit 85
« on: November 13, 2010, 09:03:26 AM »
man guys! 3 of us bought over the counter bull tags for unit 85.  Talk about a crappy unit! Its no wonder they allow OTC tags.  Ive lived here for 15 years and have taken only one elk.  During the past 8 days, we've been about 40 turkey and ONE deer!  Not an elk to be seen in sight.

Hunted both the spanish peaks wildlife area and then san isabel ntl forst from Indian creek on down towards stonewall.

The last time i ever hunt this unit thats for darn sure!

yep, I know, went during mz season, saw nuthing, heard nuthing. no deer, bear, turkey. this was at spanish peaks wildlife area. hunted two private ranches, same general area, nuthing. went to north fork wildlife area, took a meat cow about 8am. bought an otc bull tag, nuthing. dont know about you BB455 but Iam looking for greener pastures next year. I've hunted 85 since the late 60's and each year it's worse. maybe go west or north, I dont' really know any more. >:(

man you really know how to make a guy feel worse about his season! LOL

Im going back to 84 next year. At least we get to see animals, including bulls.

85 has basically been worthless for us the 15 years we've lived here.

Or back up to unit 35!  Now  thats some great deer hunting up there.

hey, cheer up. at least you know you're not the only one soured on this unit. I was thinking about trying the mesa area east of town, but a friend who lives in Branson says it's  it's all private and it's hard if not impossible to get permission.Yea, very good chance of moving to 84 next year. Talked to a local who cuts game during the seasons and he's hurting right now, only a few deer and a couple elk. He's hearing the same thing, no animals. :'(
