.38 Spc in .357 Handi Rifle?
« on: November 13, 2010, 01:28:06 PM »
I've been eyeing up a synthetic Handi in .357 Mag but I can't find anything on the official site about it taking .38 Spc.

Anyone know for sure?

Anything that will take a .357 mag will take a .38 spl.  Its just a slightly shorter case than the mag.

If you are lucky  you might be able to use 360 brass. Then you can shoot .38 .357 and .360 ;) If you reload .357 maxi

Well, I'm not quite at the reloading stage yet. I'm getting back into the hobby after years out but I save all my brass for when I decide to start reloading.

As for buying one, the .38 question was the deciding factor, so I'll be getting myself one as a birthday gift.

If you ream it to Maxi, it'll still shoot .38s fine as well as .357s, 360s and Maxis......go for it.

When was it? Curious cause mine was yesterday. In all my 45 years I have only managed a single deer on this day! This is the first year that I ever remember NOT going in the woods. I had to work, I know I know this is a family place and that was a four letter word. Apologies ;)

If you are on a budget (yeah, who of us here isnt?) and want the most 'bang for your buck' you just gotta' start reloading, man! Buying retail is cutting your shooting in half or more.

At the risk of high-jacking this thread, what is a .360? Never heard of it.

360 Dan Wesson, but you already have read that. Tim and I must have been nearly simultaneous.

Happy Birthday!  You'll like the 357 Handi.

I shoot 38 through mine pretty routinely.  Modest noise and recoil, accurate within it's distance.  38 wadcutters are just inherently accurate little rounds and they turn up reasonably priced.  Also, if you don't reload (yet) keep an eye out at WalMart for the value-pack 38 special.  FMJ bullets, and a little more crack then some of the better (read- more expensive) target loads but still very pleasant to shoot.
