I saw a mink while setting traps this afternoon
« on: November 13, 2010, 02:41:43 PM »
I was setting muskrat traps on the corners where a road runs across a slough/lake.The roadway has been built up with field stones from rock piles and old chunks of concrete.I was looking back at my sets and I saw movement at the waterline on the roadbed. It was a mink hunting along. He stopped and just looked at me then went on hunting down the shoreline.I wasn't 30 feet from him when I saw him.I had just set all my traps I had alloted for this spot.I'll put in a pockset or 2 tomorrow when I go back there. That is the first time I've ever seen a mink while out trapping.
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!
