Model 70 Super Shadow (picture added}
« on: November 14, 2010, 07:00:19 AM »
I got one in .300WSM for a really great price.  I know now why it was so cheap.  The scope base screws were loose ;D

The Model 70 Featherweight stock for it came today from CDNN total cost inc. shipping was $90.00.  I guess FedEx delivers on Sunday.  It looks awesome and fits the action just fine.  It's much darker walnut than my 7mm-08 and it has a nice thick recoil pad.  They also included (for free)a plastic piece that allows you to use 1 piece bottom metal if you wish. Now I just have to prder the bottom metal from Winchester.

Here it is mocked up in the new stock.

Why would you buy that?  It's hopelessly inaccurate and nowhere close to the quality of a Model 700.  I daresay that most here will never forget this thread and it will be quoted and requoted as many times as you post the "Model 700 is the best" statements...

The Model 70 can be made to shoot.  They are not as accurate as the Model 700 out of the box but then, none are.  It was really cheap.

I ordered the steel one piece bottom metal from Pacific Tool and Gauge.

Nice cover... cheap, accurate enough, but not as good as a Remmy.

I'm sure it will shoot fine when I get through with it.

Cheers - enjoy the rifle, hope the recoil isn't too much.

Looks like the same picture as the 7/08 or did you move the scope over from one to the other ?

Can't really see the differance between the two on your posts .

I never thought you would buy a winchester period .And you got two??

A Remchester Mmmmm?
Happy

I moved the scope from the 7mm-08 and put a Nikon on it.  This stock is much darker than the 7mm-08.  I buy guns to learn how to fix them, and how they work.  I don't like learning on my friends guns.

Pretty light, but the steel bottom metal will help this one some.

The bottom metal came in from Pacific Tool and Guage. It fits perfectly, functions properly, and all needed parts were included. I just need to blue it.

$110.41 to my door.  It's a one piece steel unit, and uses the same latch as the Winchester bottom metal.  I like it better than the 2 piece alloy Winchester bottom metal.
