Virgin Valley "custom" rifle...?
« on: November 14, 2010, 11:18:03 AM »
Good day all,
I have a question that perhaps the readers of this thread can help me with.
I am looking at getting a single shot rifle for hunting an I thought I would try an H&R handi and see how I like them and go from there. So I went on down to a some-what local gun shop to see what they had and get some prices. turns out they had a used 30-06 with a low end bushnel scope for $450 and a new one is $325 CDN. but that is not what this is about.
what they also had was a used, beautifull, mint, Virgin Valley sinlge with a 6mm and a 45/70 barrel. each barrell was mounted with its own Leupold VX1 2-7x33 scope!!! it was love instantly!
I have come to learn that Virgin Valley is now known as match grade machine a company i am sure you are all farmiliar with?
My question is, as those calibers are fine calibers they are just no quite what I was looking for. I could live with the 6mm but as for the larger cal I would have liked something a little more long range like a 30-06 (I have to say, nothing against the 45/70, just have no experience with it) So I was wondering if you think I would be able to get barrells to fit this VV rifle from MGM? IF so would I have to send the the reciever? that would be tuff as I am in Canada and well customs... not sure how that would go? A phone call to MMM is next. what do you think?
thanks

Is it a Thompson Center Frame with Virgin Valley(Now Match Grade Machine) Barrels??
If you want a different caliber MGM barrel you could just order one and it will fit your frame---That is the beauty of the Encore system.
Hope I helped you out some

now that I think of it I did not look/see TC on the frame, I was to bussy looking at the VVon the barrel. I will call tomorrow and find out. I will post the result.
I hope MGM barrels fit as it is a sweet stock and frame, has a wooden traditional rifle stock.
thanks you certainly helped!
